Welcome Home

Basement

When it comes to opening doors to their future, Millennials, it seems, can’t just use the force, and President Obama’s promises of a strong labor market, and a strong economy are falling flat.

A recent Gallup poll shows that 1 in 7 people aged 24 to 34 are living with their parents. A full 14% of Americans who are past college age, still find themselves living at home. Not just that, but these individuals are statistically less likely to be working full time and more likely to be unemployed or underemployed.

That 1 in 7 aged 24-34 (and nearly 29% of Adults under age 35) are living at home is an indication of just how weak the Obama economy has become. Millennials of all walks of life face a dismal job market marked by high unemployment, and a generally anemic economy when they are ready for full-time employment.

It seems that the only doors Obama’s economic policies have opened for Millennials are the doors to their parents’ basement; and parents around the country are having to say, “Welcome home, Millennials.”

It’s time for Conservatives to drive policies that strengthen the economy, reduce unemployment, and give Millennials—and all other Americans—the open doors that they need to galvanize the middle class and launch the American economy forward into the next generation of greatness.
