Survey Shows Women Prefer a Patient Centered Approach to Make Health Care Simpler, More Affordable & Accessible
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Building upon a national health care survey released earlier this week, the YG Network today released an additional oversampling of women over and under 55 years of age as part of the YG “Woman UP” Initiative.
The specialized oversample reveals that women do not approve of the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare), believe it has done little to lower the cost of care, and would like the Supreme Court to repeal it. If the Supreme Court strikes down ObamaCare, more than 50% of women would prefer Congress to wait until after the election before replacing portions of it. It also reveals a widely held belief (over 80%) among women that health care is personal and that patients should have control over their own health care decisions. Finally, by large margins, if women could change one thing about health care in America, it would be to make it more affordable. They believe that ObamaCare has done the opposite.
“Women, in particular, like the health care that they currently have, want to keep it, and believe that ObamaCare will take it away,” said Mary Anne Carter, Executive Director of the YG Network’s “Woman Up” effort. “Health care is a personal issue for women and ensuring that costs are low for them and their families is top priority. Both single and married women prefer that Congress take steps to make health care more patient centered, simple, and affordable after the November elections.”
