Our focus group participants expressed the feeling that they were stuck in the middle—where they were making too much to qualify for public benefits, but not enough to improve the quality of life for their family. We feel their pain and we think that smart, conservative policies, like the ones we advocate for, will keep them from having to sing that old Stealers Wheel song, “Stuck in the middle with you…”
