Sebelius: Up To 1 In 5 Obamacare Enrollees Haven’t Paid Yet

Happy Tuesday folks,

With all this talk about Obamacare “enrollment,” it’s important to keep in mind that the Obama Administration changed the definition of an enrollee to be someone who has merely picked out a plan (even if they have paid their first premium).

According to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the Administration doesn’t even know how many people have actually paid. In a recent interview, Sebelius said that the percentage of enrollees that has paid is “somewhere between 80, 85, some say as high as 90 percent.”

Quite a high degree of variance for a healthcare law that is supposedly the crowning achievement for President Obama, House Minority Leader Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Reid.

Even if the rosiest of projections for Obamacare enrollment were assumed, “the administration could miss a Congressional Budget Office target,” according to The Washington Post’s Jason Millman. “The CBO and Joint Congressional Committee on Taxation in February projected that 13 million previously uninsured people would gain coverage in 2014,” wrote Millman.

The focus should not just be on the enrollment of Obamacare, however.

Conservatives must show that patient-centered healthcare is a far better option for Americans than a healthcare law that raises premiums, reduces work hours, and reduces access to doctors.

Be on your guard for April Fool’s Day.
