Roadblocks!

road-closed

Happy Wednesday folks,

To say that “the economy is stalling” (like Matt Berman and Catherine Hollander of National Journaldid today after a weak September jobs report) is an understatement.

But Politico’s David Nather recently wrote that President Obama’s claim that the Obamacare exchange rollout “‘hasn’t worked as smoothly as it was supposed to work’ — probably the understatement of the year.”

The Administration is keeping silent on many of the specific details of the poor rollout, and it’s believed that President Obama was in damage-control mode for HHS Secretary Sebelius’ failures when he spoke about the law’s problems yesterday. Nather noted that the tactic does not improve the perception: “Still, an army in which a general is bailing out a failed colonel is a losing army.”

Well, the work of this “losing army” has led to Ron Fournier of National Journal to write about five reasons “Obama Should Be Freaked Out Over Obamacare.”

  1. It’s worse than his team has let on.
  2. This (the rollout) is the easy part.
  3. It reflects poorly on the president
  4. It reflects poorly on government.
  5. It could hurt Americans.

Between a weak jobs report and a lousy healthcare rollout, President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Reid, and House Minority Leader Pelosi should be freaked out that their policies are hurting the American people- not an understatement.

Seize the day.
