Happy Tuesday folks,
Today is Emeril Lagasse’s birthday – BAM! So in the spirit of the day, we should take the time to consider our favorite recipes.
While some of you might be thinking of a quiche here, or chocolate chip cookies there, it might be worthwhile to look at issue another way: what’s the best recipe for success in America?
According to a recent Gallup survey, the American people say that creating jobs is still the single best way to improve our economy. In an open-ended survey (i.e. the respondent can give any answer he or she wants), “creating jobs” trounced any other response (22 percent). Even with all of the turmoil going on in Washington these days, creating jobs still received twice as much support as “Congress, government work together/get things done” (11 percent).
Americans are pleading that lawmakers initiate policies that help to create jobs. Washington-based issues are not on people’s minds when they sit down at the dinner table with their families.
Lawmakers must keep pocketbook issues at the core of their agenda, because these outside issues that are fought in the beltway are not seen as a recipe for America’s economic success.
Seize the day.
