Politico: Obamacare Supporters “Cringing”

Happy Friday folks,

With such a tumultuous March Madness, brackets across America continue to bust. Since so many brackets have fallen short of expectations, wouldn’t it be nice to just hit change the rules so your choices don’t look so bad?

That’s what Obamacare is currently doing.

As Politico’s Edward-Isaac Dovere recently noted, “Falling far short of projections isn’t the kind of thing people usually celebrate. Obamacare follows a different set of rules.”

It doesn’t bode well for the liberal policy agenda that President Obama and his Administration must continually re-define the measures of success in order to cover their tracks.

This lack of accountability- exacerbated by widespread use of executive action for delays, extensions, and carve-outs- shows that the liberal world-view just doesn’t work for middle-class Americans.

As a result, liberals are running away from Obamacare as fast as they can. David Nather of Politicorecently pointed out that, “If you’re a supporter of the law, you might be cringing right now — you know the areas where the grade is not going to be good.” Aside from the fact that the Left’s “political messaging hasn’t impressed anyone,” and that “Democrats are scampering away from what was supposed to be a legacy achievement,” Nather reminds us that, “No one’s going to forget that notion that everyone could keep their plans.”

Nather’s point about the broken promise that everyone could keep the plan they liked should not go unnoticed. In March 2012, a YG Network poll revealed that 64 percent of Americans believed that, “if you like your current health plan, you will be able to keep it,” under the Affordable Care Act. That means there a lot of Americans out there whose trust has been violated by Obamacare.

The American people were duped by a dishonest policy. But they’ve grown skeptical of the President’s healthcare law. For example, the new YG Network Battleground Poll reveals that a majority of battleground constituents (57 percent) don’t buy the argument that Obamacare reducing employment is a good thing. A mere 22 percent agree with the concept.
