Happy Thursday folks,
Yesterday, the Obama Administration announced that less than 2 percent of the 7 million-enrollee goal has signed up for Obamacare so far.
As Politico’s David Nather reports, “106,185 people ‘selected a plan’ – meaning they had picked one out, and might or might not have paid for it.” So that means that the actual enrollee count is could be much lower than the reported total.
It will be very difficult for the Administration to reach the goal of 7 million enrollees next year because support for the law is dwindling. A recent Gallup poll shows that, “Americans’ views of the 2010 healthcare law have worsened in recent weeks, with 40% approving and 55% disapproving of it.” This is the largest gap in approval/disapproval that Gallup has seen this year.
What does all this mean to liberal lawmakers? Well, they are none too pleased with the healthcare law and the Obama Administration.
The AP says Obamacare is causing “heartburn” to liberals, and according to The Hill’s Mike Lillis and Justin Sink, many liberal House members will “go crazy” if the Obama Administration doesn’t come up with an idea about helping people who have lost their coverage.
These lawmakers have a right to be insane in the membrane (insane in the brain). The law that they have supported is hurting millions of Americans. Between insurance cancellations for individuals and small businesses, to massive premium hikes, Obamacare is flat-out unfair policy.
As TIME’s Zeke Miller has shown in his recent piece, “Fighting For His Presidency,” President Obama’s failed agenda means that his “job-approval rating is at a record low, and a majority of Americans don’t believe him to be honest and trustworthy.”
The Left is going to need a lot more than a few air fresheners to spruce up this mess. Liberals have no way out on this one, so it’s definitely time for conservatives to put forth an actionable agenda that helps Americans with the costs associated with middle-class life.
Seize the day.
