Happy Monday folks,
Over the weekend, Dan Balz of The Washington Post reflected on how “The problems with [President Obama’s] health-care law are self-inflicted, and the damage now transcends questions about the law itself. It has infected his presidency more broadly.” Not only has Obamacare “infected” his second-term, but Peter Baker of The New York Times characterized the White House chief of staff Denis McDonough’s job as “trying to rescue an imperiled presidency.”
It’s easy to see why such sharp criticism is coming toward the President: his liberal policies have been hurting millions of Americans.
For example, Kaiser Health News recently reported yet another casualty of Obamacare: Medicare Advantage plans. As Susan Jaffe reports, UnitedHealthcare has been forced to drop “hundreds of doctors from Medicare Advantage plans” because “The Affordable Care Act phases in reductions in government payments to Medicare Advantage plans — $156 billion over 10 years — to bring the program into line with the costs of caring for seniors in traditional Medicare.”
Everyday workers are also suffering under the law. The Washington Post’s Catherine Ho recently reported that Obamacare is “pushing employers to make tough decisions about coverage.” What are these “tough decisions” that Obamacare is forcing Americans to deal with? Well, one business owner has to meet with “workers personally to discuss changes to their health care plans under the new law — and explain why their premiums will be going up 16 percent next year.”
President Obama’s policy failures are not reserved to just domestic economic issues- they pertain to national security issues as well.
Even liberal Senator Dianne Feinstein recently admitted that the United States is not safer under President Obama’s watch. As Jake Miller of CBS News reports, when “asked during an interview on CNN whether the U.S. is safer ‘now than we were a year ago, two years ago,’ Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, replied, ‘I don’t think so.’”
The President’s policies have led to an increase in costs (from healthcare and education to everyday items like groceries and gas), and a decrease in the safety of the United States. American families deserve sound conservative policy that actually helps them in their everyday lives.
Seize the day.
