Happy Monday folks,
The policies of President Obama and his liberal allies continue to hurt middle-class families. In fact, “only one in four adults say his actions are increasing economic opportunity for people like them,” according to a new Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor Poll.
Costs for everyday items like gas, groceries, tuition, and healthcare are on the rise, but people are having a hard time finding good jobs in the Obama economy.
A recent data brief from the National Employment Law Project reveals some unfortunate news about today’s labor market outlook.
The NELP has deemed the economic recovery as the “Low-Wage Recovery” because “deep into the recovery, job growth is still heavily concentrated in lower-wage industries.”
Jobs in low-wage industries accounted for “22 percent of job losses during the recession, but 44 percent of employment growth over the past four years. Today, lower-wage industries employ 1.85 million more workers than at the start of the recession.”
The shift to low-wage industries is accompanied by a shift away from mid-wage and high-wage industries. Today, according to NELP, “there are nearly two million fewer jobs in mid- and higher-wage industries than there were before the recession took hold.”
The American people deserve policies that help make life more affordable. They deserve more from their President than an agenda focused on pet projects and a disastrous healthcare law.
Seize the day.
