Happy Monday folks,
You might be a bit slow to get going this morning from watching all the great sports last night, so this news- while unsurprising- will definitely shake you awake.
According to Politico’s Paige Winfield Cunningham, Obamacare’s glitches are not confined to the plagued, $600 million website. If one tries to sign up for Obamacare via either phone or paper, Winfield Cunningham has one simple message: “Good luck with that.” After all, all application processes end up using the Obamacare website.
The site, argues Dan Balz of The Washington Post, “doesn’t help Obama’s argument for greater government.”
The bumbling website has not showed the American people that a massive governmental intrusion into the healthcare system is a positive move, and that “the administration’s response has no doubt set the president back.”
Not only is the website rollout a “nightmare” from a logistical standpoint, but everyday Americans are getting hurt by the law. Chad Terhune of The Los Angeles Times recently reported that, “Thousands of Californians are discovering what Obamacare will cost them — and many don’t like what they see. These middle-class consumers are staring at hefty increases on their insurance bills as the overhaul remakes the healthcare market.”
Even a liberal former congressional staffer, Sue Klinkhamer, has become another face of those negatively affected by the law. “Blue Cross also tells me that if I don’t pick one of the options, they will just assume I want the one for $647. … Someone please tell me why my premium in January will be $356 more than in December?” asked Klinkhamer.
Good question, Sue. She should get in contact with the offices of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, or the White House, and ask why premiums are going up for her and other middle-class Americans.
Seize the day.
