Happy Thursday folks,
There has been a lot of talk about how the economy and labor market have been temporarily “hobbled by severe weather,” but that explanation is not capturing what is really happening in President Obama’s economy.
Today, Gallup announced that February’s payroll-to-participation rate (percentage of the U.S. adult population aged 18 and older that is employed full time by an employer for at least 30 hours per week) is only 43.1 percent.
Because the data fluctuate seasonally, it’s recommended to interpret them year-by-year. And when we do that, it’s evident that the percentage of Americans who are employed is going down. In February 2012, the rate was 43.6 percent, and in February 2013, the rate was 43.3 percent.
Several factors contribute to this number, including a retiring workforce and people simply giving up in the search for work.
But one thing is clear: President Obama’s hopes to continue his unaffordable liberal agenda on the backs of a diminished labor force.
Americans deserve economic growth and more jobs, not policies like Obamacare that are so disastrous that the President feels the need to unilaterally change.
In light of Obamacare’s latest delay, recall National Journal’s Major Garrett’s description of what’s really going on with the law: “To those who must live with and live under the law, the arbitrary is the norm. The only pattern is chaos.”
Middle-class Americans, who are just trying to ahead in Obama’s run-down economy, should not have to suffer under the burdens of Obamacare: higher costs, reduced access to doctors, and “chaos.”
That was a lot of data. As a reward, here are some husky puppies in a tub!
Seize the day.
