Happy Friday folks,
Yesterday, President Obama probably made more football references than the number of people who have successfully signed up for Obamacare. His “fumble” remarks are references to insurance cancellations and the failed website. Luckily, President Obama has taken action!
The move by President Obama to allow people to remain on their health insurance (you know, the insurance that he previously promised they could keep) has not done much to improve the disastrous law.
For one thing, President Obama’s unilateral change to the insurance cancellation provision of his healthcare law is only temporary. Insurance companies will only be able to let people stay on their current plan for another year.
Additionally, “President Barack Obama’s decision to let people keep their old policies undercuts years of preparations for the overhaul of the health-insurance market and introduces new uncertainties,”according to Timothy W. Martin, Christopher Weaver, and Jon Kamp of The Wall Street Journal.
What sort of new uncertainties? Well an official statement from AHIP yesterday revealed that “Changing the rules after health plans have already met the requirements of the law could destabilize the market and result in higher premiums for consumers.”
None of this looks good for liberals who have routinely supported this botched policy that affects one sixth of the American economy.
Paul Kane and Jackie Kucinich of The Washington Post pointed out that liberal lawmakers who voted for Obamacare are in the same boat with the President: “At one point during what amounted to an hour-long mea culpa, Obama even apologized on behalf of the many Democratic lawmakers who repeated those assurances to the voters.”
You’d think with such a disaster on the policy end, that the President would be excited to announce that the website will finally work AOK. Unfortunately, “there will still be some problems” after the November 30 deadline, according to the President.
These problems are more than a “game,” and hopefully President Obama and his liberal allies realize this. Affordable healthcare is a top priority to millions of American families. Obamacare’s problems are downright unfair to their pocketbooks.
Seize the day and rock the weekend.
