Happy Friday folks,
There will be lots of chatter about the economy today so let’s cut to the chase.
The US economy only added 113,000 jobs in January-which may sound like a lot-but “Analysts expected nonfarm payrolls to increase by 185,000 jobs,” according to The Chicago Tribune.
If you wanted to just go all sorts of crazy this Friday morning and dive into the BLS data, the jobs report shows that the economy is not doing well under the liberal policies of President Obama.
- December’s horrific report of 74,000 jobs created was revised to… 75,000.
- The unemployment rate for African Americans is 12.1 percent, and the unemployment rate for Hispanics is 8.4 percent.
- The payroll participation rate is only 63 percent, and lower rates have not been seen since the Carter Administration (save for last month, which was 62.8 percent).
Seize the day.
