Every American should have access to affordable health insurance, and the ability to acquire preventive health care and treatment. Yet few will be able to afford health care or insurance if rising costs continue to spiral out of control.

Lawmakers should continue to generate a climate friendly to health care innovations that move us to a patient-centered system, tempers the rise in health costs and creates new structures for health care delivery and financing. The free market is better at responding to the demands of consumers for quality care at more affordable prices.

We must also persist in the great strides we have made in medical advancements and innovation.
