Is This As Good As It Gets?

YGNetwork-MorningBuzz2

Happy Monday folks,

Bad news for millions of middle-class Americans who are just trying to tread water in this era of a slow economic recovery.

As far as the economy goes, is this as good as it gets? Josh Boak of the Associated Press says, “It increasingly looks that way.”

Gallup recently reported that economic confidence is “negative for states across the nation,” except in one place: Washington DC. This is a sign that advocates for Washington-based economic policies feel insulated from (and oblivious to) the economic struggles of millions of middle-class Americans. It’s not fair that the Obama Administration and its liberal allies in Congress continue to ignore the public’s concerns.

One of the largest concerns right now is the threat of Obamacare on the pocketbook of hard-working Americans. Julie Appleby of Kaiser Health News recently wrote that, “The primary goal was to get the bill passed, not figure out what struggling middle-class families thought they could afford.”

Well, the Left’s oversight of what middle-class families are concerned about is hurting everyday Americans, because they “they may have to pay up to 9.5 percent of their income toward that premium before the subsidy kicks in,” wrote Appleby. This could be as much as $600 per month for a mid-priced plan.

Conservatives must continue to show that they understand the plight of middle-class Americans and that Washington-based economic policies have not been working. We used to be a country that was optimistic about the future and economic growth. Conservative solutions that help promote broad-based growth for everyone can get us back there.

Seize the day.
