AP Poll: Obama Likable But Not His Policies

YGNetwork-MorningBuzz2

Happy Thursday folks,

As President Obama gets closer each day to his fifth State of the Union speech, he should pay more attention to the fact that Americans are against his policy agenda. According to a fresh AP-GfK poll, “less than a third of Americans consider him to be an above-average chief executive,” even if “nearly twice as many find him likable” as a person.

So it’s not as if the American people disagree with President Obama because they don’t like him. On the contrary, they find him “likable” despite the fact that they disagree with his policy decisions. Such areas in which they disapprove of his job include:

The Economy: 56 percent disapprove of the way he’s handling the economy, while only 42 percent approve.

The Federal Budget: 59 percent of Americans disapprove of the way he’s handling it, while only 38 percent approve

Healthcare: 58 percent disapprove, only 40 percent approve.

Unemployment: 53 percent disapprove, only 45 approve.

The American people deserve better. It’s not enough for President Obama to be likable- he also must lead. After five years of his policies, education, healthcare, and energy prices are still hurting the middle class. The State of the Union must focus on helping these Americans, rather than cultivating a likable image for the President.

Seize the day.
