President Obama proclaimed that his administration was the most transparent administration in history, but what he failed to do was show the American people exactly what that meant—or that he has made a commitment to transparency and accountability.
When the government operates in the shadows, the American people suffer—and we’ve seen plenty of less-than-transparent scandals come out of the executive brach under President Obama’s tenure. The IRS targeting scandal, the GSA spending scandal, the IRS spending scandal, all under the watchful eye of “the most transparent administration in history.”
This opacity in government is a breeding ground for governmental abuse, and it ultimately gambles with the hopes, dreams, and lives of the American People.
Conservatives have an opportunity to ensure that the government operates in an open, transparent way, and they are doing just that with the All Economic Regulations Are Transparent Act of 2014.
After all, the government should work for Americans, not work them over.
