Happy Friday folks,
Even though the economy added 217,000 jobs in May, National Journal’s Matt Vasilogambros warns that “people shouldn’t celebrate too much just yet.”
That’s because even though the economy passed the pre-recession “peak number of jobs from January 2008,” there are “more working-age people in the U.S. now than there were six years ago.”
As a result, there are well over two million more unemployed people than before the recession.
It’s also important to note that those actually getting jobs are not necessarily getting full-time work. Just a few weeks ago, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen noted that “the share of the workforce that is working part time but would prefer to work full time remains quite high by historical standards.”
Because the liberal policies of President Obama and his allies like Senate Majority Leader Reid and House Minority Leader have kept middle-class Americans in a rut, conservatives have a great opportunity to show the middle class a new way forward. YG Network’s new book, Room To Grow, offers some insights into how this can be accomplished.
Mona Charen of The Chicago Sun-Times recently characterized Room To Grow as a “blueprint for policy innovation.” By continually evaluating and enhancing this blueprint, conservative leaders can foster a more robust and expansive economy for America’s future.
Seize the day.
