What could you buy with 50 million dollars?

50 Million Dollars. What would you spend it on? A new house? A car? College education for your children?

Though they spent none of it on things to improve your life, over a three-year period, the IRS spent 50 million taxpayer dollars on things like luxury hotel rooms, baseball tickets, dance classes, and alcohol, and only later admitting that many of these expenses were “inappropriate.”

We must take steps to encourage transparency in the government, to ensure that misappropriations of this level don’t happen again, and that’s just what Representative James Lankford’s Taxpayers Right-To-Know Act does just that.

The Taxpayers Right-to-Know Act will require every federal agency to provide taxpayers an annual report card on all of its programs. That report card will include administrative costs and staffing information, expenditures for services, and number of program recipients, among other things.

It’s time to shine a little light on some of the darkened corners of our government.
